Last year, the Miami Hurricanes and the Florida Gators battled for a few recruits on National Signing Day. Even though the Gators have a new head coach in Dan Mullen, it looks like things have not changed between the two. The Gators and Hurricanes are poised to do battle for two defensive lineman who happen to be at the same school. Four Star defensive linemen Andrew Chatfield and Nesta Silvera both play at American Heritage in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Chatfield, who just visited the Gators this past weekend has been considered a Hurricanes lean for quite some time. But there are a few key reasons why Gator fans behind they have a shot to get his signature on Signing Day. The first reason is due to the Gators new tight ends coach Larry Scott. The former Tennessee Volunteers offensive coordinator is known for his recruiting in the state of Florida and has already been in contact with Chatfield. The second is that Chatfield has a few former teammates already in Gainesville, including his cousin James Houston.
As for Silvera, he has been committed to the Hurricanes since February of last year. But many started questioning his commitment when decided not to sign during the early signing period. Just like Chatfield, many Gator fans believe that Silvera is also intrigued with some of his former teammates already in Gainesville as well. Silvera a few days ago told Hurricanes fans that they have nothing to worry about but we shall see.
With Signing Day a week away, it is going to be must see TV when both of these guys decide where they plan to go to school. One thing for sure is that their are going to be some angry Gator fans or some angry Hurricanes fans once those announcements are made.
