I think everyone knows just how big this Saturday’s game between the Miami Hurricanes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. I already talked about what the Hurricanes defense has to do in order to win this game. Now it’s time to talk about what the offense needs to do in order to defeat the Irish Saturday night. With that being said, the Hurricanes need quarterback Malik Rosier to be at his best on Saturday night.
Last week, the Virginia Tech Hokies frustrated and confused Rosier a lot in this game but they were unable to take advantage. Rosier threw for 202 passing yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also finished with a quarterback rating of 78.2, which is not good at all. The Irish defense has been pretty good this season and they can cause similar problems for Rosier. I can tell you right now, if Rosier throws three interceptions Saturday night, the Irish will take advantage of it.
If I’m head coach Mark Richt, this might be a game where you have to run Rosier a lot. As good as the Irish defense is, I think the Hurricanes wide receivers will win the one on one matchups if they went to man coverage. And that will happen if Rosier has success with running the football. I think Richt should try to set up some easy pass plays for Rosier at the beginning of this game to get his confidence up. With the Irish running the ball majority of the time, Rosier has to make the most of their possessions. I will be looking to see how the Hurricanes offense comes out and how good Rosier will play in this game.
